Our Lady of the Assumption is a Catholic Church in the heart of Gateacre, Belle Vale, Netherley and Childwall. The parish was planted in 1947 and from humble beginnings to serve the post war wave of people who moved out of Liverpool City Centre. Since then it has grown as the local housing stock has grown. The church builiding was opened in 1965 and reflects the wave of new liturgical ideas eminating from the Second Vatical Council. The church was built adajacent to Belle Vale Shopping Centre and is easily accessible.
Today, the parish is active on many fronts and witnesses as a herald of the Gospel and servant of the vulnerable in the local community.
